BayCERT has been requested to have a table at an upcoming forum Bud Caldwell is presenting on Disaster Preparedness, Thursday, June 13, 6:30-8:30 at the Webster Civic Center. I have volunteered to attend and bring the supplies. If anyone else would like to participate please join me.

Volunteer Request for Nassau Bay’s 1st CERT Class Final Drill!

BayCERT Team,

We are looking for volunteers to help play “victims”, etc. at the final drill at the Nassau Bay City Hall Thursday, May 23.

The City Hall is located at 18100 Upper Bay Road, Nassau Bay and volunteers should meet at 6:00pm for moulage and instructions for the drill.

This will replace our regular monthly meeting that was scheduled for the Seabrook Fire Station.

What: Seabrook Hurricane Safety Booth
Where: Seabrook City Hall (1700 1st St · Seabrook)
BayCERT will need at least 4 volunteers to work the booth and would like to use this as an opportunity to train and work shifts for our newest members!

ACTIVE SHOOTER DEFENSE CLASS

BayCERT is presenting the “Active Shooter Defense” training seminar to its members Thursday, April 25, 2013, Webster Civic Center, 311 Pennsylvania Avenue, 77598, 7 pm.

This one and a half hour presentation explains the reality of an active shooter in your community.

Stephen Daniel, Senior Community Liaison, Public Affairs, Houston Police Department will lead the program.

BayCERT Training Opportunity – CERT Animal Response Class (RSVP)

The La Porte Police Department is going to host another Animal Response Class! It is a 2-day class that will take place on May 30^th and June 6^th.

A New Year and Great News!

BayCERT Team,

We have another great year ahead of us and to kick it off January has provided us with several great happenings!!

1st. We would like to officially welcome the City of Nassau Bay and Emergency Mgt Coordinator, Jamie Galloway into the BayCERT Team. We couldn’t be more happy to have another of the infamous J’s in the pack!

2nd. The next Generation of BayCERT members are currently training on Thursday nights at the Seabrook Fire Department. Let’s be sure to encourage and welcome them. Stop in to observe the class, refresh your skills or just introduce yourself and why you like being a part of BayCERT! Then, they’ll have a training drill near 2/23/13, where we’ll call on members to come play “victims”!

Elections for officers are held at the 1st meeting of the year.- These are by nomination, with a second nomination and a vote by everyone who attends the meeting. Results are immediate. The following positions are elected and come with additional responsibilities and officer meetings. Consider serving in the future, but always remember that it is a commitment, but a worthy one.

Recruit for your Team – Next BayCERT Class in January

The Seabrook Office of Emergency Management is hosting an eight-week CERT training class at the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Station beginning Thursday, January 10, 2013, 6:30-9:30 pm. CERT is a Federal Emergency Management Agency program that educates citizens regarding emergency hazards they may face in their community and trains them in lifesaving skills. The class is free and upon completion each members receives the CERT backpack with emergency supplies.
