La Porte CERT Graduation!

On March 13th, 2025, the La Porte Office of Emergency Management (OEM) held a live practice drill for its new CERT graduates. This final practice represents the culmination of practical skills taught throughout the CERT course.
BayCERT and Teen CERT volunteered to help facilitate this drill by playing victims in a mass casualty event, as observers for drill safety and to review the skills demonstrated, and apply moulage to victims actors
The new CERT graduates showed skills in fire suppression, size up, search and rescue, triage, medical transport, and medical treatment. Relying on their team work and CERT training they managed a chaotic and hectic scene filled with wounded and disorientated victims.
With the final victim rescued and treated the drill was completed and the final debrief was held. Feedback from the CERT graduates, BayCERT, and Teen CERT was provided to help ensure that effective and timely actions are taken in case the worst happens. Finally, the new graduates were certified and given their CERT badges, diplomas and were invited to join BayCERT.
